Nevada is a state in western United States. The state capital is Carson City, the largest city - Las Vegas.

Nevada became part of the United States during the Civil War between the southern and northern states. Word Nevada is translated from Spanish as the snow and comes from the Sierra Nevada Mountains. 'The Battle Born State' is the official slogan of Nevada.

Several US Navy ships have been named USS Nevada in honor of the State of Nevada.

Nevada is located in the western part of the US state of an area of 285,368 square km. It shares borders with California (west), Oregon, and Idaho (northern), Utah (in the east) and Arizona (in the southeast). The northern part of Nevada is located within the boundaries of the Great Basin, the area is mainly occupied by desert and is characterized by hot summers and relatively cold winters. Mountain ranges, the height of individual peaks exceeding 4,000 m, is formed on the higher woodland areas, despite the surrounding desert plains.
